The Travelers
This campaign will be my first blending of both Dungeons and Dragons 3rd edition and the newer role-playing game, Modern.
The characters play as immortals, vampires, or some other supernatural being. There is a portal system that allows the characters to travel between a medieval D & D world, and a modern world. Characters inhabit two different physical forms in the two separate times, so they do not need to and can not take physical objects with them between the two time periods.
Character classes will encompass both the D & D and modern settings. Skills and Feats will be a combination of D & D and Modern abilities. New skills and feats will have uses in both time periods.
Character races will be either equally useful in both time periods, or strong in one period. Characters will be able to grow and change as time goes on.
Abilities and events open up to the characters depending on what time period they adventure in. Characters who spend most of their time in the modern world will build technological skills, while characters who travel in medieval times gain more magical skills. Characters will have two separate experience lists/totals. Although they will be added together for character levels, different skills and abilities will be available depending on how the two totals match up.
The two time periods will be the same world but will have different areas and encounters to resemble the timeframe and advance the storyline.
The beginning will feature two neutral worlds. As characters affect things in the past, the future may change.
Major villains in this campaign will have similar time-travel capabilities and will work to change the future to meet their own ends. A neutral force will be present and have their own goals and ideals for the world.
